A truly remarkable wine from an outstanding vintage. Gran Selezione is the highest tier of Chianti Classico—reserved for only the top 10% of production—and this bottling is a stunning example. Hand-harvested from 50-year-old, high-altitude, Certified Organic vines (the oldest vineyard in Ricasoli), fermented with native wild yeasts, and aged over four years before release. Crafted from pure old-vine Sangiovese with 13% Pugnitello, a rare ancient Tuscan varietal that adds depth, complexity, and intrigue.
The wine is dark, brooding, and powerfully concentrated, overflowing with luscious depth and structure. Aromas of savory black cherry, violet, and black currant lead into a vibrant, full-bodied palate layered with creamy blackberry, wild blueberry, dark plum, mocha, fresh earth, and sweet spiced tobacco. Fine, dusty tannins carry the dynamic, inspired finish. Distinctly old-school in character, yet lifted by a purity of elegant fruit that feels truly special.
Critical acclaim is outstanding:• 97 points – Wine Spectator (Highly Recommended & Collectible)• 94 points – Vinous• 93 points – James Suckling
